All of the key principles in this course are supported by specific Scriptures, which we encourage you to read so that you can verify these principles for yourself (Acts 17:11) and gain additional insights from these passages.

Many people prefer to look up these passages in their own Bibles. As an alternative, we've compiled all of these passages in a document you can download, print and refer to as you study or review each lesson. You could also refer to one of the many Bible websites, such as www.esv.org (the translation our ministry uses) or www.biblegateway.com, which provides over 180 versions of the Bible.

You can begin evaluating our teaching by reading the key teaching points from this lesson along with their supporting Scriptures, all of which are listed below.

Life Is All About Relationship

  • God created us for relationship (Matt. 22:37-39).
  • In essence, relational wisdom (RW) is the ability to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself … better yet, as Jesus has loved you (Matt. 22:37-39; John 13:34-35).
  • Life is all about relationship (Gen. 2:18; John 3:16, John 4:1-42; John 13:34-35, John 17:20-23)
  • Relationships are precious gifts that God entrusts to us with the expectation that we will see them as opportunities to show his love and multiply the number of people who will enjoy him forever (Matt. 25:14-30).
  • RW can help you to experience, love and enjoy God more fully (Jer. 29:13; Matt. 22:37; John 8:29; 14:21, 23).
  • RW can help you to experience less conflict and more enjoyable, productive and enduring human relationships (Ruth 1:16-18; 1 Sam. 20:17; Prov. 18:24).
  • As you learn RW, your example and advice will be more credible and welcomed by others (Prov. 3:35; 16:23).
  • Noticeable changes in your character and relationships reveals God’s transforming power in your life (2 Cor. 5:17-20).
  • Love and unity among believers show that we are Jesus’ disciples and prove that God loves us and sent his Son to save us (John 13:34-35; John 17:20-23).
  • God commands and empowers us to grow in relational wisdom as he sanctifies and transforms us into the likeness of Christ (Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18; Eph. 4:22-24; James 1:5; 2 Pet. 1:3-7).
  • Because of Christ, we don't have to give in to guilt or regret about past mistakes (Isa. 61:3; Phil. 3:13-14).
  • One way to accelerate our relational growth is to spend as much time as possible with highly relational people (Prov. 13:20).
