Using Relational Wisdom and Peacemaking to Heal Community Brokenness
Love INC (Love in the Name of Christ) is a national movement mobilizing local churches to transform their communities by offering a holistic approach to caring for people in all areas of life: spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, material and physical.
RW360 was honored to provide four workshops at the 2023 Love INC National Gathering to introduce their staff and volunteers to ways that they can use the principles relational wisdom (biblical emotion intelligence) and peacemaking to assist their neighbors to develop relational skills that prevent conflict and strengthen vital life relationships.
This training includes an array of relational skills, including the gospel, biblical wisdom, emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion, wise leadership and the ability to take hold of Jesus' wonderful promise, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matt. 5:9).
With these needs in mind, Ken Sande presented four workshops at the 2023 Love INC National Gathering to equip the staff and volunteers at Love INC Affiliates with the skills they need to be channels of God's wisdom and grace:
- The Relationally Wise Leader– This breakout session will cover several key principles and practices for improving emotional intelligence, empathy, peacemaking, and problem-solving skills of Love INC Affiliate leaders and workers. These skills can also be used to create more peaceful homes and to improve performance in the workplace.
- Relational Wisdom: Going Beyond Emotional Intelligence – Relational wisdom (RW) combines the neurological insights of emotional intelligence with the theological insights of Scripture to create a practical theology organized into six key relational skills that can be applied in the life-changing interactions of a Love INC Affiliate, as well as all areas of life. - Peacemaking: Turning Conflict into an Opportunity – People struggling with life challenges often face conflict with spouses or partners, relatives and friends. The peacemaking principles presented in this breakout session can help them reconcile relationships, resist coercion and build unity and agreement with the people who can support them in making life-changing choices. This session is based on Ken Sande's book, The Peacemaker, which has sold over 500,000 copies in 20 languages.
- Seven Steps to Deeper Empathy – This breakout session will show how to develop Christ-like empathy, which will enable you to read other people accurately, show genuine compassion, and minister in life-changing ways. These skills can enrich your interactions within a Love INC ministry, as well as your own marriage, parenting, ministry, friendships, and witness for Christ.
Although these sessions were developed with Love INC Affiliate staff and coaches in mind, these concepts can be applied by any person who is involved in challenging life circumstances, whether you are out of work, homeless, or facing family or financial challenges.
If you serve at a Love INC Affiliate, please feel free to use all four of these sessions for professional development training for your board of directors, staff and volunteers. You may also share these videos with your supporting churches as a way to deepen their understanding of the relational issues your center faces and to capture the hearts and interest of additional volunteers.
The more time you take to engage with this material in practical ways, the more effective your team will be in developing and applying these relational principles.

Your Instructor
Ken Sande is the founder of Peacemaker Ministries and RW360. Trained as an engineer, lawyer and mediator, Ken has conciliated hundreds of family, business, church and legal conflicts. He is the author of numerous articles and books, including The Peacemaker, which has sold over 500,000 copies in twenty languages. He teaches internationally on biblical peacemaking, Christian conciliation and relational wisdom, which is an enhanced form of emotional intelligence that helps people “get upstream of conflict” by improving their ability to read and manage emotions in themselves and others. These resources are being used to strengthen relationships, promote teamwork and reduce and resolve conflict in churches, families, businesses, schools and military bases around the world. Ken is a Certified Emotional Intelligence Instructor and a Certified Relational Wisdom Conciliator, Coach and Instructor. He has served as a church elder, an Editorial Advisor for Christianity Today, Certified Professional Engineer and as a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Montana Bar Association.
